The Mechatronics Project Wiki
Mechatronics projects are driven by teams of 5 students and run for 13-weeks in second semester at UWA. The team members come from 2nd-yr Mechatronics Systems (MCTX2420) and 3rd-yr Mechatronics Design (MCTX3420) students. These complex, interdiciplinary projects span mechanical, electrical, computer, software and control engineering, with supervisors from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic and Computer Engineering and Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Western Australia.
Monadelphous Integrated Learning Centre
The MILC will open in July 2010 and it will be a place for engineering students to go between or after lectures. It will be a unique student-owned, student-run workshop and design studio with actual facilities that are helpful for doing project work.
Art and Engineering - Art for Critical Thinking
Mission
- To link the educational experience and culture and art for students, staff and wider community
- To develop collaboration between arts, engineering, industrial design, architecture and other neighboring disciplines
- To create interdisciplinary and multicultural projects for students, staff and wider community
- To examine the place of artistic creation within the engineering educational and teaching enterprise,
- To teach UWA engineering students to be creative and innovative in order to meet the challenges of the coming future
- To create new art courses in engineering
- To add art elements throughout engineering curriculum
- To bring presence of art programs and studios in MPSL
- To bring the presence of the arts into everyday life of MPSL and other engineering buildings and spaces
- To provide grants for undergraduate research and performance
- To make many of artistic activities free of charge and subsidize student attendance at art events on and off campus
- Art and Engineering initiative to be part of other UWA similar initiatives such as UWA Cultural Precinct, Symbiotica and many other similar initiatives at universities around the world
